as you can hear (if not click here to download), it's amazing how a good tune can manipulate how one feels. frankly, for most of us when visiting a bar it's as important as the cut of the food, drink and service. what we aim to do with our tunes is complement our friendly, character-heavy and downright special service with a soundtrack that creates a spirit in the bar. a special spirit that simply makes the experience a bit more memorable - somewhere between the vibes of the legendary cafe grafitti and the magic of the first going places at the abc cinema. happy days. romance aside, we have a fine library of background music chosen by our in-house soldier of funk fortune, the kylester, and by our man in our soul-punk kitchen, joseph malik. and we can assure you this library is feeling the love.

our dj schedule ? actually, we don't have one. to keep our music offer fresh, interesting and funky our weekly djs will be announced weekly, on this very page. they might be established cats, like joseph, bob cairns, simon hodge or craig jamieson, or they might be our buddies who have an inclination for luscious vinyl that fancy playing their favourite records. it might be an afternoon mellow soul set, it might be an early evening jazz funk set, it might be a saturday night ska session - whenever and whoever's on, the standards of tuneage will be reliably special.

some lyrical moments to capture our thinking ...

lionel richie - "once you get started you can't sit down"

bassheads - "get down to the hip-hop-a-bebop-a-lula"

roy ayers - "Oo, my, you're so bad it's no lie"

astrud gilberto - "that swings so cool and sways so gently"

chaka khan - "I wanna thank you for being what I needed"

and quite frankly ...

james brown - "it's too funky in here"
